Sumi-e Painting with Ink: This project really tested my patience because I couldn't seem to get the right shade and I also used the wrong type of paper so it kept folding on me. I used rubber cement to write the Japanese symbol meaning "strength". Without adding water, I wrote my name (right vertical) then traced it in red watercolor. The bottom left says " art". This project really taught me how to balance the opaqueness with water and work with a light hand. If I were to do another Sumi-e painting I would try and do an animal or something that involves nature because there is more shape which makes it more interesting.
NeuroGraphic Portfolio Painting-Watercolor: For this painting I used watercolor, metallic sharpies, and rubber cement. This project taught me the importance of sticking to a color scheme and to go with the flow. I had no plan for what this would turn out like and I had many accidents along the way but in the end it turned out pretty cool. Next time I would consider extending the neurotrophic designs outside the border to make it more fun.
